Igår kväll (4/9) när vi kom hit tände vi fjärilsfällan, vid stugan. Fällan var full med fjärilar i morse, dock inga rara. Solen skiner och det är varmt, så nu åker vi till södra Öland för att se om vi kan hitta något intressant. Slaghåvade på ängarna runt Grönhögen. På kvällen tändes lampan vid Skarpa Alby… inte mycket som flög trots bra väder.  Slaghåvade lite här och var på söndagen. På kvällen var det ingen vind, så vi åkte till Alvaret och satte upp lampa. Efter en stund började det blåsa, lampan svajade och duken bågnade så det var bara att plocka ihop. Åkte till Littorinavallen och riggade upp. Efter 3 minuter var det fem bålgetingar på duken, ingen fjäril, så vi bestämde oss för att lägga ner lysandet. Tände fällan vid stugan. Idag (måndag) ska vi åka hem. Ingen lyckad jakt, men det är alltid kul att vara här. Och som Anders säger -” det måste vara dåliga lys ibland för att ha något att jämföra med”.

Vi hade hört att där fanns ett stort antal rödgul höfjäril, en mycket rar art. Vi hade tur , på lördags morgonen var många fjärilar på vingarna. Efter 46 år fick Anders åter se en rödgul höfjäril. snacka om lycka!

The weather is very nice for butterfly and moth hunting. Yesterday there were lot of  creature on their wings, but nothing special. Today we visited a nature reserve, Halltorps hage. Now it’s time to put the light on.

Early in the morning we took a boat transfer across the lake Torneträsk. We walked around there for about 10 hours. We found some very nice butterflies among them thore. Another year when we go to the northern side we’ll climb up above the tree line. Up there live some very beautiful butterflies.

We walked to Kratersjön. There were lots of butterflies on their wings, glandon, nastes, aquilonaris. We met Nick and Pen up in the mountains. In the afternoon we tried our pheromones and got some culiciformis (no polaris) and one parilis. After that we went home to our youthhostel for dinner.

Yesterday it was a rainy and cold morning. In the afternoon the sun came out. We went out to try our pheromones again. Nick and Pen came with us.

Today it has been a very nice day, sunny and hot. Nick, Pen, Anders and I decided to go for a long walk up in the mountains. There were lots of butterflies. Among others norna, nastes, eunomia, freija, aquilonaris, pandrose, exulans, optilete and idas. Anders got a new species, secedens. We walked about 20 kilometres.

Anders used his new pheromones and got 1 culiciformis and 1 parilis. Another sunny day here.

June 25 But as it was a cloudy and windy day we didn’t find any. As we celebrated 38 years anniversary we had dinner at a restaurant.

June 26 This morning Anders, Nick and Daniel (other butterfly collectors) decided to climb in the mountains looking for butterflies. I stayed on the ground :) Now we have been sleeping 3 nights in the car and 2 nights in the tent. I decided to find somewhere else to sleep. I found a very nice hostel. Now I have moved our things to the hostel. I’m sure Anders will be surprised when he comes back.

This morning we had breakfast at a hotel. Sometimes it’s nice to be a bit lazy :) After another 200 kilometres we arrived to Abisko. This time of year the sun is shining day and night. Now we have set up the ten. The sun is shining and everything is just great.

June 21st After a 600 kilometres drive we’re in Sundsvall. Tomorrow we will look for butterflies at Alnö an island near Sundsvall.

June 22nd After a good night’s sleep in the car, we had breakfast in the sunshine. Then we watched a butterfly named mnemosyne. Now we’re in Östersund, today we only drove about 200 kilometres.

June 23rd Many hours in the car today. We drove 800 kilometres. Now we’re in Gällivare, here we’ll stay tonight.
